What are the benefits of a HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is an excellent treatment for clients with oily/acne prone skin. It helps with skin congestion and oil control as well as preventing future breakouts. When done regularly, the HydraFacial helps to intensely improve skin hydration, improve skin texture, prevent breakouts, minimize the appearance of dark spots, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Is there any downtime with this procedure?
No, there is no downtime. You can make plans right after your treatment!
Will I experience breakouts after the treatment?
It is possible to experience a breakout after a facial, this is because we are bringing all the buildup and bacteria to the surface of the skin. You may experience skin purging which is a reaction in response to an accelerated exfoliation and peel. This is a good thing, as want to expose fresh skin cells underneath and reveal clearer, youthful skin.
Contraindications:
- Chemical peels within last two weeks. (Note: for doctor prescribed/ deeper chemical peels we recommend waiting 4-6 weeks before an OxyGeneo treatment)
- Dermal injections/Botox within last 1-2 weeks
- Facial waxing in past 7 days.
- Recent microdermabrasion
- Sun burn
- Laser treatments
- Skin infection/open wound in treatment area
Pre -Treatment Guidelines:
- Discontinue the use of any Isotretinoin products (such as Accutane) for 6 months before treatment.
- Discontinue all alpha hydroxy products, salicylic acid products, and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 3-7 days. For strong concentrations/ doctor prescribed products please discontinue use for 1-2 weeks. If there are any doubts about using any product, please discontinue it and discuss it at your appointment with your medical esthetican.
- Discontinue use of retinols and other retinoids including Retin A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac etc. For low concentrations of retinols discontinue use for 3-5 days, for stronger concentrations (1% and up) discontinue use for 1-2 weeks minimum.
- Wait 3-7 days before or after laser hair removal treatments to do a hydrafacial.
- Refrain from any medium or deep chemical peels/ resurfacing treatments for 2 weeks before treatment.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure as well as the use of tanning beds for 72 hours before the treatment.
- Wait 1 week after Botox and 2 weeks after fillers to undergo a treatment.
What to expect/post-care instructions:
- You may experience some dryness, redness and peeling after a HydraFacial. It should be minimal and will subside in a few days
- Do not wash your face, shower, or exercise for at least 6 hours post peel.
- No chemical peels, microdermabrasion or Dermaplaning for 2 weeks.
- Avoid using AHA’S, BHA’S, and other chemical exfoliants for 2 days post treatment.
- Always wear sunscreen.

How does it work?
The OxyGeneo exfoliates the upper skin layer to remove dead skin cells, open clogged pores and renew the skin. The treatment generates an abundance of CO2 bubbles that trigger the body to send oxygen rich blood to replace the CO2. This results in optimal skin oxygenation and increased cell activity. We then infuse the skin with powerful antioxidants and nutrients to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin.
How long does the oxygeno facial last?
An oxygen facial typically lasts 4-6 weeks. We recommend getting it an oxygeneo facial once a month for long lasting results and improved hydration, skin texture and overall skin rejuvenation.
When should I come in for an oxygeno facial if I have an event?
We recommend coming in 1-2 weeks before an event, however if you have not had an oxygeneo facial done previously we recommend getting it done well before your event date in the unlikely event that there is an adverse reaction.
Contraindications:
- Dermal injections/Botox within last 1-2 weeks
- Chemical peels within last two weeks. (Note: for doctor prescribed/ deeper peels we recommend waiting 4-6 weeks before an OxyGeneo treatment)
- AHA’s and BHA’s including but not limited to glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. See pre-treatment guidelines.
- Waxing, tweezing a week before treatment
- Electrolysis
- Skin infection/open wound in treatment area.

What’s in the Fire?

What are the results I should expect from a Fire & Ice facial?
Having been resurfaced, you can expect your skin to look smoother, with fine lines and wrinkles reduced, and any acne scars will appear lighter.
Do I need to take any precautions following a Fire & Ice facial?
Due to the resurfacing peel, you may experience a mild redness immediately after treatment. SkinVisual Med Spa recommends using a sunscreen of SPF 20 or higher to protect your skin. Prolonged exposure to the sun (for at least 72 hours following this facial treatment) is also discouraged.
Is there a recommended course of treatments?
We suggest six Fire & Ice Facials done between four-week intervals for maximum results.
Dermaplane Facial
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is the controlled scraping of the skin using a sterile, surgical blade held at 45-degree angle for the removal of keratinized cells on the outer stratum corneum and fine vellus hair. Dermaplaning is also highly effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars while leaving skin smooth, supple and vibrant. Dermaplaning is great for prepping skin prior to peels, enzyme treatments and to increase penetration of active ingredients. It creates the perfect canvas for makeup application. Dermaplaning is a physical and a mechanical exfoliation. It can be done on its own or as an add on to a facial.

A basic hands on facial that includes cleanse, dermaplaning, extractions, mask, massage and moisturizer/sunscreen.

What is the procedure?
This technique is safely performed using a specialized sterile surgical instrument. Once the skin is properly prepped, the technician holds the skin taut and gently glides the blade along the skin’s surface at a 45 degree angle.
Is it safe?
It is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained aesthetician. All aesthetician’s at SkinVisual Med Spa are professionally trained and certified in DermaPlane.
How often can this procedure be performed?
Dermaplaning can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks.
Can Dermaplaning be performed with other treatments?
Yes, dermaplaning is an excellent way to prep the skin for other treatments.
Are there any risks with dermaplane?
Some minor fine nips and cuts can occur with dermaplaning. This is normal and will heal on its own in a few days.
